Welcome to Totem Resource Centre,

Since 2014, Totem has grown as a space where knowledge meets lived reality. Based in Wayanad, Kerala, we work closely with Adivasi, Dalit, and other marginalized communities to understand, respond to, and act on everyday challenges around livelihood, education, health, and social justice.

Grounded in anthropology and sociology, and strengthened by digital tools, Totem bridges research, action, and community knowledge. Our work is shaped by long-term field engagement by listening first, then building solutions alongside the people we work with.

Through community-led programs, cultural documentation, and interdisciplinary learning, we bring together students, researchers, and practitioners. Over 522+ students for various unviersities accross India have interned with Totem, forming a growing network of thousands of volunteers contributing to meaningful, on-ground change. From grassroots development to critical moments like the Wayanad landslide rescue and relief efforts, our work continues to evolve with the needs of the communities we serve.
