Dr. Nisar Kannangara

I am a Postdoctoral Associate, at the Inequality and Human Development Programme, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru. My research interests include political ethnography, social and cultural dynamics of democracy, anthropology of matriarchy and patriarchy, transformation of rural and tribal communities, vernacular architecture, rural sanitation, and autonomous adaptation to climate change. I have received my Ph.D. in Anthropology in 2019, MPhil in Anthropology in 2013, from Pondicherry University (Central), and Masters in Anthropology in 2011 from Madras University. Prior to joining NIAS, I was a Project Associate at the Kerala Cultural Museum project, Directorate of Culture, Trivandrum, Kerala.
